DescriptionSupports the systems used in the Radiology Department, focusing on functionality and integration, of RIS and PACS. Ensures smooth workflow, troubleshoots technical issues, trains users, and collaborates with radiologists and IT staff. Maintains billing compliance in all aspects of the Radiology Department to include updating and maintaining the Radiology Chargemaster as well as all build in the Chargemaster and eCARE systems. This is a highly complex job that requires advanced knowledge of the electronic record. This position is responsible for adding, auditing, updating all the orders in Radiology and assuring proper coding. Works independently on this process and works to facilitate changes, adding new charges and appropriately adding CPT codes. Works with Pre Authorization department to authorize proper coding for billing and optimal reimbursement. This position audits claims that are denied and research how to get proper payment, involving other departments and facilitating a team effort to provide the best and proper reimbursement. Works with coding on difficult, complicated, or denied claims to ensure optimal payment. This position requires a high level of discretion, problem solving skills, and independent thinking. The RIS Analyst is the liaison between Trinity and the non-Trinity owned outreach sites who utilize Trinity’s PACS services. Bridges the gap between technology and clinical practice in the Radiology Department, ensuring that systems are running efficiently, securely, and in support of optimal patient care.
QualificationsLicenses and Certifications Required Educational Requirements - Associate degree in medical field/IT experience.
- BS degree preferred.
- In depth formal or acquired experience with management information systems.
- EPIC Certification
Experience Requirements - Coding and reimbursement experience, IT and integration experience.
Special Skills or Training Requirements - In-depth knowledge of information system functionality and its relationship with the HIS and other related information systems.
- In-depth knowledge of reimbursement guidelines and advanced beneficiary notices.
- Thorough knowledge of registration and charging process and ability to analyze and audit as needed.
- Strong understanding of IT systems, database management, and healthcare software, particularly RIS and PACS.
- Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and develop solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with various stakeholders.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Understanding of medical imaging workflows and healthcare regulations.
- Experience in managing and participating in IT implementation projects.
