Job Description
Overview: The Assistant Equipment Manager supports the Equipment Management team in overseeing preventive maintenance, safety, compliance, and operational efficiency across the crane and rigging fleet. This role provides hands-on coordination with branches, assists with reporting and compliance initiatives, and helps ensure equipment is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities - Preventive Maintenance & Fleet Support
- Assist in monitoring and coordinating the company’s preventive maintenance program for the crane and rigging fleet.
- Support implementation of updates to improve efficiency, coverage, and quality, including the use of diagnostics, oil analysis, and scanning technologies.
- Provide guidance to branch teams on best practices for equipment care and maintenance.
- Meetings & Communication
- Help organize maintenance forums and lead team calls by preparing presentations, compiling incident reports, and scheduling guest speakers.
- Gather input from branches on maintenance challenges, industry updates, recalls, and safety issues.
- Maintain forums as a resource for sharing lessons learned and discussing equipment standards.
- Technology & Process Improvements
- Assist in coordinating with the IT department to improve fleet maintenance processes within internal systems.
- Monitor processes for efficiency opportunities and contribute to documenting requirements for system updates.
- Support the preparation of materials for stage gate and review meetings as needed.
- Branch & Regional Support
- Provide day-to-day assistance to branch maintenance teams to ensure program compliance and problem-solving.
- Support Regional Directors by attending meetings, communicating process changes, and providing updates on analysis results.
- Assist with onboarding and training during branch acquisitions, including fleet inspections and maintenance program integration.
- Safety & Compliance
- Collaborate with the Safety & Quality Department on incident reviews, lessons learned, and updates to maintenance processes.
- Help track OSHA-related crane safety repairs for improved compliance visibility.
- Support coordination with the DOT Compliance Manager on deficiency repair processes.
- Cross-Department Coordination
- Work closely with Fleet Services, Safety, Quality, and Compliance teams to align on equipment management goals.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager or leadership.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience in equipment maintenance or fleet management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with field teams.
- Must pass drug test, background check, and fit-for-duty assessment.
