Job Description:

This position will include light cooking of breakfast and snack items, janitorial services throughout the building, and transporting children to and from Elementary school and scheduled field trips. The person selected for this position needs to display good personal cleanliness habits, have a clean driving record, and be sincerely interested in working with young children and display a willingness to attend required trainings in nutrition and food safety. In addition, this person will understand the requirements for hygienic maintenance and housekeeping.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Breakfast and Snack - light cooking may be involved.
  • Dish out already prepared lunch for each classroom.
  • Using a commercial dishwasher, wash all breakfast, snack and lunch dishes.
  • Provide assistance with team members for food and cooking experiences they may wish to plan for the children.
  • Driving children to and from school and well as driving on scheduled field trips.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service training program to expand knowledge in nutrition.
  • Ensure high standard of hygiene, health, and safety is maintained in the kitchen at all times.
  • Able to follow direction, able to work independently, and with a team.
  • Able to lift to 40 lbs. repetitively.
  • Deep knowledge of food storage, preparation and handling standards.
  • Operational knowledge of kitchen equipment, appliances and cleaning supplies.
  • Familiarity with food allergies and handling of food cross contamination issues.
  • Ability to order, procure and stock inventory of food supplies as needed.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, children and their families in a pleasant tone.
  • Prepare and maintain correct and timely records and documents related to work.
  • Interpreted and followed public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time, frequent walking, bending over, being able to lift heavy boxes. You must be able to get down and stand up quickly. This is a physically ACTIVE role.
  • Perform simple laundry tasks.
  • Stock and clean restrooms.

Qualifications

  • Must have a food handlers certification or able to achieve.
  • Pass all Federal, State, and Local background checks.
  • Complete in-service hours in nutrition and food safety for young children.
  • Have an excellent driving record.
  • If driving the van, must be 20 with an excellent driving record.
