Job Summary
The Roll-to-Roll Wide Format Operator / Printer is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting wide-format roll-to-roll printing equipment used to produce banners, signage, and other large-format printed materials. This position ensures high-quality output, accurate color reproduction, efficient production flow, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Printing & Production
Operate roll-to-roll wide format printers for banners, vinyl, signage, and related products
Set up print jobs including loading media, ink, and files
Monitor print runs to ensure quality, color accuracy, and proper alignment
Perform test prints and make necessary adjustments
Meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards
File Handling & Quality Control
Review print files for sizing, resolution, and print readiness
Identify and correct basic file or print issues when possible
Inspect finished products for defects and reprint as needed
Maintain consistent quality across all production runs
Equipment Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on printers and related equipment
Troubleshoot basic mechanical or print-quality issues
Report equipment problems to management or service providers promptly
Maintain proper ink levels, materials, and supplies
Shop & Workflow Support
Assist with trimming, finishing, and packaging of printed materials
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Communicate production status and issues to the Print Shop Manager
Support continuous improvement of print processes and workflows
Qualifications & Skills
Required
Experience operating roll-to-roll wide format printers (or similar production equipment)
Basic understanding of print production, materials, and finishing
Strong attention to detail and quality
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred
Experience with banner printing, vinyl, or large-format signage
Familiarity with RIP software (Onyx, Caldera, or similar)
Basic knowledge of color management and print profiles
Prior experience in a print shop or production environment
Work Environment
Manufacturing/print shop environment
Exposure to ink, solvents, noise, and moving machinery
Requires use of PPE as appropriate
Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the workday
Manual handling of large rolls of media
Visual acuity for inspecting print quality and color
Schedule
Full-time
Monday–Friday, with flexibility based on production demands
Overtime may be required during peak production periods
